What is Reiki All About?
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is an ancient Japanese healing technique that promotes relaxation and reduces stress thus allowing the body to heal itself.
How does it work?
Universal life force energy is channeled through the Reiki practitioner’s hands to the client. The practitioner does this by either laying their hands gently on the client that is fully clothed or just above the client’s body at certain energy centers or chakras. The client’s energy flow is increased to a healthy level, which encourages self healing. Though Reiki is spiritually guided it is not based in any one religion. Reiki is complementary to any medical treatment or procedure.
The history of Reiki:
Dr. Makao Usui rediscovered the ancient healing technique of Reiki in 1914, after returning to Japan at a Budist Monastery from studying Theology in the United States. In 1938, Mrs. Hawayo Takata of Hawaii brought Reiki to the West. Today Reiki is practiced in many hospitals and wellness centers to increase healing responsiveness.
