Multiple Grievances Filed

Last week I filed 8 grievances (added to the 3 now open) concerning various issues that have been ignored since signing the CBA.  Issues like the "use of force continuum", and lack of equipment for blood borne pathogens incidents that we may encounter.  Seniority list issues, and Discipline write-up reviews by the Union.

UGSOA Local #50 is committed to enforcing and ensuring that AmGard lives by their end of this Agreement.

So far, our grievances have been answered haphazardly by local management.  We are advancing them.  More violations have been found and more grievances are being filed.

Please report any violations you see from the CBA so I can protect your end of the deal!  Contact James Carney for any questions or issues that may arise at
303-650-8515, or jcarney@ugsoa.com  Southern Colorado members can contact Cliff
Dufrain at cdufrain@msn.com

AmGard changes Managers

AmGard has changed Contract Managers.  Sandy Seader has returned to regular Security Officer duties.  Patti Larson is now the AmGard Contract Manager.  No reason has been given for the change in management.  This comes after other Managers returned to Security duties.  The turn-over rate in AmGard Management continues to be very high with Supervisors leaving management; some voluntary, others not from what we hear.

Security Officers continue to do their jobs nevertheless, loyally protecting the US infrastructure at Federal Buildings in Colorado.

The vacant Supervisors positions have went unadvertised to Officers.

By-Laws Committee Meeting
-report-

The By-Laws Committee, which was elected from the April 10th meeting was assembled on Saturday the 22nd.

Recommendations for new Local #50 By-Laws have been adopted.  A meeting is being scheduled and Notice will accompany this newsletter soon to all members for the full meeting of the membership and ratification of those recommendations.
Union Bulletin Books

Union Bulletin Books were negotiated into the CBA in February.  Local #50 purchased and began placing the books at all posts and assignments.  Elaine Alker, AmGard VP, has informed UGSOA that the Government is ordering the bulletin books removed from all posts and assignments.  We have an outstanding information request to the Company concerning this directive supposedly from the Government that has remained unanswered.  Our investigation remains open, and UGSOA does not believe at this point that the government would order such a routine Union right as having a bulletin book / bulletin board removed from the worksite.  Federal Employees Unions in all the buildings we work at (Like AFGE, NTEU, etc.) all have bulletin boards.  Why would ours be removed under order from a "government official"   ?????  UGSOA is prepared to take action.
NLRB Charges

The NLRB has dismissed certain charges that were filed from the February negotiations.  UGSOA will be appealing those charges.
