We are a sanctuary as well as a rescue.  We do not euthanize just because a dog is ill.  Their special needs food is $35.00 per bag!  Now that doesn't include their medications and fluids that are needed to keep them going.  Can you help?  Contact us at CenOHSheltieREsc@aol.com!
"Dylan"

Dylan is about 8 years old.  He is a blue merle male sheltie that has had a rough life but is adjusting well to the good life.  He is current on all shots, neutered and housebroken.  He loves to have a lap to spend his time being petted.  He came to us after living in his own filth for so long that his coat and feet were discolored.  He is getting more and more beautiful and outgoing everyday.

"Shadow"
This isn't a very good picture, so we'll get a better one.  Shadow is a seven year old bi-black neutered male sheltie.  He has a very sweet personality.  He came to us in dire need of emergency surgery for a herniated anal cavity.  He has recovered nicely and the only long term effect will be his diet.  He is current on all vaccines, housebroken, heartworm preventative and microchipped.

Julie is a beautiful sable and white female sheltie.  She is 3 years old and shy.  She came from a puppy mill where there was very little socialization.  She gets along with other dogs but needs someone that is willing to work with her and have patience. Trent is 9 years old and as you can see, he is gorgeous.  He was left at the shelter because he was too old and grumpy.  Well, he had a swollen eye full of blood, I think I"d be grumpy too.  He's fine now and very loving and loves to play.  This boy requires a LOT of toys!  I still dont' believe he's nine! So named because he thinks he will be KING and he will if you don't watch out.  This little guy needs a performance home.  He needs something to do and discipline to do it.  He is current on everything, housebroken and very, very active.  Only the right homes will be considered for this boy since we do not wish to have him shuffled around.

Carly is a beautiful oversized mahagony sable female sheltie.  She is about five years old and loves to play and sit next to you on the couch.  Carly has one problem...She has selective hearing.  She was tied to a tree all her life and has no human interaction skills.  We have a behaviorist working with her and a very patient foster home showing her what love is all about.  If you have the patience to continue that process for her, please contact us.

Spencer is a 10 month old puppy and boy does he have some problems!  Spencer needs your financial support.  He was born without a ball joint to hold his leg into the hip socket.  HE will need to have surgery soon to alleviate the pain he is in.  Can you please help us with those expenses?  I hate to think what would have happened to him if we hadn't taken him from the shelter.  Please help him....

Grammy was found as a stray.  She has an abcessed tooth but is otherwise in great health.  She is low thyroid.  We estimate her to be anywhere from 12-14 years old.  She appears to be deaf and is suffering from Horner's syndrome in one eye and a possible cataract in the other.  Do you have a heart for a senior?

2.5 year old 10lb female sheltie.  She is spayed, current on everything and housebroken.  She battled with pancreatitis at one time and now must have a special food for her sensitive tummy.  Other than that...she is ready for her forever home.

"Copper"   LOOK AT WHAT "TLC" WILL DO!
THese three pictures are all of Copper.  Copper will have his own webpage soon, please keep checking back.  These are graphic but true pictures of him before and after.  Briefly, he came to us in heart of winter with the worse case of mange we've ever encountered.  He was completely naked as you can see.  He spent three weeks in solitary confinement as he underwent treatment.  But, look at him now...WOW!  What a change!  This is one of the sweetest dogs you'd ever want to meet.  Whoever is lucky enough to fall in love with him...will be getting a true gem.

Special Needs "Rogue"
Rogue is only about 3 years old.  He is low thyroid and has some aggressive tendancies.  Therefore, he will only go to the right adult only home.  Lots of doggy experience and/or obedience background helpful in this situation.  Don't let that innocent look fool you..he can run the show before you even know it!  Can be a sweetie too.  
Rogue is a mahogany sable neutered male sheltie.  He is housebroken and crate trained.  He loves to go in the car and rides great in a seat belt.

"Special Needs"  "Peppi"
Peppi is a seven year old red sable, spayed female sheltie.  She is oversized for a sheltie (38 lbs) and loves to ride in the car.  She is housebroken and would be a lot more comfortable with a lot less dogs in the house and all adults please.   She is reserved to begin with but getting bolder every day!  She follows me around now and boy does she love to play!  She also got the "sheltie frenzies" and took the other shelties for a run through the house.  She's also starting to show a fondness for the couch and chair now that she's a little more comfortable!  She seems most comfortable with a crate of her own to lounge in when she wants. Peppi needs to have an "experienced" dog person to love with a lot of patience and understanding.  Due to bladder stone issues, she does require a urine test to be done every three months,special foods and medicines....all controllable..
