SONG: Spring Moon Rising
BIO:
This song was written this past year. It started with a visual picture of riding along in a car at night and looking up to see moonlight glowing behind the upper branches of trees, seeming to flow along in a streaming river pattern as the car passed under a long row of trees. I imagined it firing off memories of other moonlit nights when the air was the same temperature and the night looked and felt the same.
I wanted to give the song a 1920's type of feel. My brother Sean wrote a lead bass piece that helps that to happen.

SONG: ROUGH BOOK
BIO:
I have been writing two to three songs a year since I was sixteen years old. As soon as I learned three chords I put them together and started writing lyrics. I am self taught learning by asking questions and watching others play. I neither read or write music. I must memorize every song I play and then play it periodically in order to retain the song. I actually do not always know the name of the chords that I am playing. As you can imagine I have forgotten more songs than I can remember. There were a few years when I didn’t write at all, but then I would pull out the old guitar and play all the ones I could remember from time to time. This song was written quite some time ago. I can’t remember the year. It basically is a tribute to those who must function in our society using a different set of rules and a different set of capacities. The song reflects my imagined perceptions of a young blind girl and how she experiences life. First through books and later through the societal perceptions and caricatures of the blind. The title “Rough Book” suggests the difficulties that are commensurate with random events that have led to blindness from birth and to relate to the textured relief grouping of dots that create the communication substitute for the printed word, that is of course braille.
