Here's my review:
Seen on Friday 9/3/04. Bob's not in it enough, then he dies, and you are forced to sit through an never ending waste of your life. Best part of the movie is Bob's hair, not only the powdered wig as seen here, but he's got unruly white hair in the movie.
I saw 4 people get up in the middle of this movie and walk out. How's that for a review!

Plot Outline: Growing up poor in London, Becky Sharp (Witherspoon) defies her poverty-stricken background and ascends the social ladder alongside her best friend, Amelia
Premise: Story of Becky Sharp (Witherspoon), a lower-class girl who uses her wit to make her way through 1820's London society She is forced to become a governess at a remote country house, where she is courted by both the elderly Sir Pitt Crawley (Bob), and his roguish younger son, Rawdon Crawley (Purefoy). Crawley's house is a mess! Becky cleans it up, and impresses Crawley's rich elderly sister but pisses her off because she marries Rawdon, Bob dies. At that point I stopped paying attention.
Filming: Production started on May 23rd, 2003 on sets at Shepperton Studios in London and at locations in Bath and Gloucestershire, on a budget of $23 million.

Mychael Danna . Danna has enjoyed a long artistic collaboration with filmmaker Atom Egoyan (*Felicia's Journey), scoring seven features, most recently Ararat. Those scores have garnered him several Canadian film awards. He served for five years as composer-in-residence at the McLaughlin Planetarium in Toronto. Vanity Fair introduces a new audience to the beautiful, funny, passionate, and calculating Becky (played by Witherspoon). The daughter of a starving English artist and a French chorus girl, Becky is orphaned at a young age. Even as a child, she yearns for a more glamorous life than her birthright promises. As she leaves Miss Pinkerton's Academy at Chiswick, Becky resolves to conquer English society by any means possible. She deploys all of her wit, guile, and sexuality as she makes her way up into high society during the first quarter of the 19th century.
