Memphis tour guide Harley Jean Davidson should have known the day was going along too well. After all, she had the rest of the day off to lie in the May sunshine and think of nothing more complicated than whether to drink white wine or iced tea. But someone has abducted her parents' dog, King, and sent a ransom letter to her father. Yogi swears he doesn't know what they want in return, and Harley's mother Diva is confident that her spirit guides will see that all turns out well -- if Harley will only go next door and ask the new neighbor what he did with the dog.
Harley would rather have a root canal without novocaine. Bruno Jett may be drop-dead gorgeous, but he has a dark, dangerous look to him that she'd just as soon avoid. Naturally, she embarks on a mission to find the dog, and gets a lot more than she wants when she finds a body as well. It doesn't help that Bruno Jett is somehow mixed up in all of it, either.
Then the police suspect that her father is more deeply involved than he admits, and Harley tries to exonerate him. No good deed goes unpunished, for she quickly finds herself being pursued by someone who's killed once, and won't hesitate to do it again....
