BAYNOR'S of North Carolina
The name Baynor has been found to be spelled different ways. In some of our research, we have seen the name spelled two different ways, in the same document. We will spell the name as we see it in the documents we have found. Baynor, Bayner, Baner, Bainer and Beaner.
We believe that John Baynor was our forefather. Just where he came from is not know at this time. He arrived in the United States in the late 1600's. From Mass. to Maryland, from Maryland to Virginia and finally settleing in North Carolina In the Long Acre section of Beaufort county, the name Baynor has long been a well-known and respected name. There was even a community named after them. "Baynortown" We believe that John Baynor married the widow of John Kemp, from a Record of Land Transfer.
On 24 January 1754 James Lewis sold to Samuel Sinclare, 150 acres on Milins, now Prices Creek, that formerly belonged to William Price, who sold it to John Kemp, who died leaving it to his widow, who married John Baner. Baner died, leaving it to his widow, who married John Mackguin (McGuin), who sold it to Josiah Jones. Jones conveyed it to William Johns, who conveyed it to Edward Broughton, who conveyed it to Robert Kenyan. Kenyan died leaving two daughters, Mary and Dorothy. There was a deed of partition on 13 September 1735 between the sisters and their respective husbands, John Power and John Hyde.

SPECIAL THANKS
A special thanks to Terria Baynor, who dug through dusty old courthouses in search of documents such as land grants, wills, birth and death certificates and just about anything to help with the past of our Baynors. And to Martha Baynor, who had started on this genealogy search years ago, gave us all the information she had gathered. She really helped Terria and I start this. So many have been so helpful in helping us gather information on the Baynors and their surnames. We have met so many relatives over the internet who have given us their family trees so we could tie pieces together. It has be so interesting to come to know our family that is no longer with us, I feel as if I know them. There is so much that we can't put up right now, but we thought this would get you started in your search. We would love to hear from all of you distant cousins out there, and welcome any help you can give. I also want to thank Cathey, who has done some searches for us. Its sticking together and helping each other that can lead us to our early ancestors. Terria and I hope you enjoy this site. Happy hunting!!
PRAYER FOR GENEALOGISTS
Lord, help me dig into the past
and sift the sands of time
That I might find the roots that made
This family mine.
Lord, help me trace the ancient roads
On which my fathers trod
And led them through so many lands
To find our present sod.
Lord, help me find an ancient book
or manuscritp
Thats safely hidden now away
In some forgottencrypt.
Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts
My soul when I can't find
The missing link between some name
That ends the same as mine.
Curtis Wood.
