VAN METEREN/ VAN METRE / VAN METER / VAN MATREThis is a picture of a windmill on a typical Netherlands Landscape. From the 1200s, windmills have been used in the Netherlands, (Holland) to pump excess water off the fertile soils. However, today most of the windmills have been replaced with electric or diesel pumps. My wife, Jan created this interpretation of a pastoral, windmill scene, somewhat typical of those seen in Holland.
