Attention LOVE BUG fans! Herbie needs your help. A few years ago, right before Disney filmed him for the Love Bug DVD, Herbie broke his sliding sunroof handle. These aren't available to purchase from stores anymore so we've been on the lookout for a nice used one. Please help us locate a new sunroof handle for Herbie. It isn't often that I plug a product here on my web site. However, I feel compelled to share a joyful experience with all of you. UPDATE! Herbie TOYS and Collectibles page re-launched!
I finally got some time for a minor update on the site. I've reintroduced the Herbie Toys and collectibles page. There are a lot of images to upload so check back every few days or so to see the new stuff. This page will contain both original and custom made items. The image you see above is a Beetle model that I am in the process of building into an authentic Herbie replica. GREAT NEWS for everyone asking about Herbie toys! Johnny Lightning makes them!
Collector die cast toy maker Johnny Lightning has released four brand Herbie die cast cars! If you've been hoping to one day be able to walk into a store and buy a new Herbie toy for your child (or yourself!) that day has arrived! The Herbie toys are packaged on a nice display card with the vibrant LOVE BUG logo along with the 53 and racing stripes. There are currently two 1/64th scale Herbies (Hot Wheels size) and they retail for $2.99. The original release is from "The Love Bug." The second release is a Herbie painted to appear rusty as seen in "Herbie Goes Bananas." As of this writing, these are the only single packaged 1/64 Herbies. JL also released a "Seabreeze Point" diorama in 1/64 scale that includes Herbie, a police car, and three figures. This diorama comes two ways, Herbie with or without stripes and numbers. There is also a 1/18th scale Herbie from "The Love Bug" and one from "Herbie Goes Bananas" available. Although not "movie accurate" as claimed (hey, we're sticklers for detail!) the toys are a wonderful addition to any Herbie lover's home. Retail price is $19.99 for the 1/18th scale models. EXCELLENT NEWS! All FIVE of Herbie's big screen adventures are now available on DVD! The LOVE BUG comes as a 2-disc special edition that covers Herbie history and more!! Herbie Rides Again, Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, and Herbie Goes Bananas are all single disc films with no bonuses. The latest film, Herbie Fully Loaded is a single disc but does offer some behind the scenes featurettes. All of the original four films are available individually or as a boxed set! Don't delay, buy them today!
The Love Bug was released on DVD format in a special edition 2 disc set on May 20th, 2003. The distribution was very slow at first due to some type of snafu. If you are a Herbie fan this is the movie to own! Nearly everything you ever wanted to know about Herbie is included in this two disc set. Herbie is going on 42 years old! It's hard to believe that my Herbie's restoration is nearly 8 years old!
WOW, does time ever fly!! And,
December 2005 marked this Herbie site's 8th anniversary! My Herbie web site was originally
created on 12/15/1997. A crash due to a virus wiped me out a year later but
I was back up and running with a new computer. We had well over 100,000 visitors at the site but unfortunately, all the hits
on the counter were erased when the system went down. But look now! thanks to your support we are top ranked on several search engines. Not bad for a site that
has never spent one cent advertising. Isn't word of mouth a great thing? Your continued support and love of Herbie has made this possible!
This web site has pretty much been a one man labor of love. However, I would like
to thank all of you out there who helped me to share my passion. Sure, the site isn't as
technically advanced as I'd like (I'm basically an html dummy) but it has
come a long way from a simple one page site devoted to preserving Herbie's
memory. I am writing an article about how the Herbie scene has changed over
the last seven years. Look for it to be posted here in the future. Oh yeah, be sure
to check the "How To Build A Herbie" link on the left side of the page.
I have finally added to it. Trust me, there is much more to come. Finding
the time is my only hurdle.

This is another pic of my Herbie!
Thank you again for taking the time to explore the Herbie The Love Bug Fan Club and Historical Society! These web pages
are a personal tribute to a very special VW that helped to shape my life.
I remember falling in love with the LOVE BUG at an early age. This magical
VW captured my heart and planted the seed to a dream. That dream was to one
day be the owner of my very own Herbie! In pursuit of this dream I made a
lot of new friends and even found true love. My love for Volkswagens brought
me into the path of a beautiful woman who is now my wife. Together, we
"discovered" the VW that you see pictured above and have made my (our) dream
of owning Herbie come true. This '63 ragtop is just
like the original Herbie. We purchased her from the original owner (Mary
Scott) in 1994. Some VW fans may call me crazy but I actually
sold my '56 European sunroof Beetle in order to complete Herbie's restoration. Many
hours were spent making sure that Herbie was 100% movie accurate!
All of the decals are exact reproductions of original Herbie decals.
Check out the front license plate, it's Herbie's number! Another cool trick
is that Herbie will actually "talk" to people via beeping. The kids
get a big kick out of it! I've included a few "Before" shots for
your viewing pleasure.
I'd like to thank all of the family and friends (You know who you are)
that have helped me with Herbie and my Herbie web site. THANK YOU!

Probably one of the most often asked questions
on my site is "where can I find wide wheels for my VW?" I have the answer! The
best source for custom wheels is the place that created the original Herbie
wheels for Disney, Stockton Wheel! The wide wheel shown above is not from Stockton but clicking on the image will take you to their web site. Stockton Wheels has been around forever. Just make sure you
let them know that Herbie sent you. Remember, I'm running 14x6 wheels on
my car but Herbie also used 15x6's also. The choice is yours. For all your

The First Herbie Fan Club VW show was
a SUCCESS!! For the full story and more pics click the above

The working title for the event was HERBIE-CON. But, I wanted the real name to be a suprise. Since the event was being held at Disney World and was going to last two days I borrowed on Disney's own "Love Bug Day" event and suprised everyone by calling the show "Herbie Days At Disney!" And why not? The name was completely logical and a lot more fun then "Herbie-con." This
first time ever Herbie the Love Bug reunion took place at Disney's LOVE BUG
hotel complex November 9th and 10th, 2000. The Love Bug only VW gathering was open
to both original Herbies and Herbie replicas. The special
guest for the event was Joaquin Garay III who played "Paco" in Herbie Goes Bananas. Click
on the image ABOVE to see the first few images of Herbie Days at Disney!
This event marked the largest gathering of Herbies (outside of the
actual Disney films) in history!

picture called STRANGERS ONLINE by MPH
Productions. It is a starring role. I am also doing some stand up comedy,
cartoon voice overs, and am currently studying at the Groundlings Theater
(where many of the Saturday Night Live actors studied) and will hopefully
one day perform there. Well that's it! Please let me know if you have any
questions. And who knows, maybe I can do a cameo in the next Herbie
flick!

the HERBIE themed resort in Orlando, Florida is a fantastic place to stay!
However, due to the relative low cost and high fun factor this resort (known
as the All Star Movie resort) books very quickly. So, make your reservations
now. Don't forget to REQUEST the Love Bug buildings or you may end up in
one of the other movie themed buildings! Check out the link to the pictures

essential Herbie history guide that I wrote specifically for this issue!
It is a must have for any Herbie fan. The story is filled with
great photos of my car, original Disney cars, and Herbie collectibles. On a side note, most of my research and information written in my article was used in the new LOVE BUG DVD bonus features The exciting part is that even more information has now been uncovered since the article was written! Unfortunately, this
issue of VW TRENDS magazine is no longer available so you might have to do the E-bay thing to find a copy.
However,
if you can't find the issue or just want to browse you can just click on the VW Trends image above to view
scans of the entire article online! These are big images so if you have dial up (like me) it will be slow going.

Tragedy In America 9-11-2001
The face of American history was forever changed
with the horrific events of September 11, 2001. From this day forward Americans
began a new fight for Liberty and Freedom. Now is the time forget all of
our differences and band together as one people, Americans. All of
us can play an important part in this effort to end terrorism here and abroad.
Together, we must serve our country and protect every freedom that
we cherish and often take for granted. Raise your flag and display it proudly.
Support our President and our military. Pray that God will direct all of
our leaders with his divine inspiration so that one day our country can once
again live without fear.
Let it be said that my deepest prayers go out to the family
and loved ones of those who were lost.
