About
Me
| BARRY,February 17,1956,to Charles J and
Dorothy M Willette in Portsmouth New Hampshire.I spent the first 16
years of my life in N'dakinna(Our Land)York Maine which at the time
was a Beautiful Small Town.It has since grown into a very big town
and while it retains much of its past it has lost a lot of its small
town Charm. It is ironic that I lived in York being of Abenaki Indian
Heritage as during the French Indian War York was raided and
destroyed by an Abenaki War Party. The towns Historic Society tells a
stupid false story of this raid of the warriors leaving their Snow
Shoes at this big rock located several miles from what at the time
was the center of town.Abenakis are not and never have been a stupid
people so why would my Ancestors leave their snow shoes there and
travel miles through the woods in deep snow without them.I hope one
day that they drop this stupid lie. While my entire life has been
pretty much a happy one,my first sixteen were probably the happiest.
My Father, who also was my hero and still is, now that he has moved
to the Spirit World. We had a special bond, and communicated often
without having to speak
aloud. |

My
Interests
| Shar Pei Dogs especially
Adia,Hoss and Little Joe.I enjoy listening to Native American Music
especially Coyote Oldman and also the Honor The Earth Pow Wow.I
enjoy reading and have read extensively on the life of Frank Fools
Crow a great Lakota Holy Man.I am spending as much time as I can now
trying to learn more about the ways of My People including our
Language which was almost lost. While we Abenakis do not have federal
Recognition(BIA says we no longer exist that we died out NOT),we
most definitely do exist and it is up to all of us to learn our
Heritage and Pass them on because The Land,The Stories and Songs
connect the Abenaki People to Future generations and as long as WE
do not forget we will never die.I do however spend time doing other
things like watching and rooting for the New England Patriots in
Football and the Boston Bruins in Hockey.
My heroes are Charles
Willette, Fr Leo F. White, and General H. Norman
Shwartkopf. |
