The Places
It is thought that ghosts tend to stick around in places they were familiar with.  There's often a connection to the land or building, an event that occurred there, the people there now, or sometimes even the objects in the location, such as antiques. Almost all of these locations are open and accessible to the  public. If you're on private property, always try to either have permission (trespassing is not a good thing, you know) or abide by their times/rules while there.
Click one of the locations below for my lists of haunted sites here in the Washington, D.C.-Metro area within an hour's drive of D.C. Some sites are linked. If you know about other places, please feel free to email me at Waniehol@aol.com Having lived here all of my life, I've either been to or been by all of these places.

Remember, not everyone is a believer in ghosts or hauntings (many historical sites will flat-out deny it and often aren't too keen on your equipment), so if and when you visit, please be mindful of their rules while there.

Try to find a local ghost hunting group/club to go with first. Email me or visit my links if you need to locate one in your area.

Have fun!
Email me HERE if you know of more haunted D.C. area locations you'd like to see added!
