Edward Wilson Currier.  A native of Marietta, Ohio and was a noted Early California Artist. I am doing a lot of research on him and share it as I get it. Here are two portraits of him. Our web site is www.CurrierOnline.com
This is a portrait of E W Currier done in 1916, two years before he died. It was done by a very famous artist, Elbridge Burbank. He and E W were friends and he wrote on the back "to my friend E W Currier". Our family was very excited to get this as we never knew what he looked like as an older man.
The other  photo is from a book "Men of California" around 1904.
E W's grandparents were David Pratt 1780-1861 and Julia Perkins 1784-1867. Julia's parents were Dr. Eliphaz Perkins and Lydia Fitch, some of the first settlers of Athens around 1800. Submitted by Diane Vallon, Great Grandaughter.
Fannie (Mankins) Johnson Cain.  Taken circa 1904.  Probably wearing "the hat" that her husband, Joseph F. Johnson told her, that if she bought it, not to bother coming back home.....Stories through the generations had always said she bought the hat, and never returned home to Joseph.  Looks like there is a bird on the top of it.  ROFLMBO!!!   No wonder, Joseph told her that.  LOL   Submitted by Debbie Noland Nitsche,  Great Grandaugher.  This photo was sent to me by Denise Spear.
