Illinois Freetrappers Blackpowder Club
This page updated 3/23/02

The Illinois Freetrappers Blackpowder Club (hereafter known as IFT) is a not-for-profit corporation by membership. Our purpose  being to promote and to protect the heritage, history and the frontier spirit of our forefathers. Also to keep alive the individual spirit and way of life of the early pioneers. Our major goal being the re-creation of and the living history of  life in North America from 1700-1840.
As of May 1 our lease runs out on our current property. We are in the process of trying to find a new location. When we do this sight will be updated. We have 11 scheduled shoot dates and 5 rendezvous.  Camping  is pre 1840. You can  bring in just a bedroll or a  wall tent with stove and fly, the choice is yours. Once a year we try to do a "mini " trek where we pack into the woods for the night. Our range has a maximum length of about 50 yards and is for blackpowder muzzleloaders only .Like the rest of the property the range is open to members all year round.
Our members vary  from those who enjoy a good trek to those who just enjoy sitting around a campfire with friends on a brisk evening. Many of our members belong to groups that re-enact the French and Indian War, The Revolutionary War,  and The War of 1812.
Membership in  IFT is $100 per year for a family or an individual. An individual or the head of the family must be a member of the NMLRA for insurance purposes. To find out more please e-mail me at Wdsrnnr304@cs.com. Thank you.

Club News:

Shooter of the year for 2001 was Ernie. The scores for the top 3 positions were very close. Ernie had 600, John N. had 590, and Vince had 550.

December rendezvous. The 22nd annual Frozen Butts Rendezvous was held December 8-10. Brian C., Brian D., and John N. camped. Weather was clear and crisp. The shoot the next day was won by Brian C.

November Trek: John B. and John N. went for a short day and a half trek to Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. We found a good spot for future treks that includes a central location to "cache" a water supply as good water is not abundant here. This location allows you to scout in 3 or 4 different directions and re-supply with water the next day. The terrain is not difficult and would be a good place for a first trek. We were loaded for squirrel but only saw a flock of turkey's.Would like to go back in
