My name is Samantha Weldon. I own and breed all colors and mutations of Gouldian Finches. I am a member of the N.F.S.S. & G.L.A.S. I live just outside of Traverse City in Northern Michigan. If you are a Gouldian breeder, starting out, or just someone who loves these birds feel free to E-Mail me! I love to talk about these absolutely beautiful birds.
All my birds are kept indoors as a part of our family. They are use to all normal noises (kids, dogs, and even a cat). My Gouldians are N.F.S.S. close banded and also have a family band. Genetic information is always strictly kept and available to anyone who purchases a bird. We now have a Closed Aviary for precaution.
My birds Diet: On a daily basis, I feed a personal seed mix made for me by Herman Brothers, eggfood, and lots of Greens (like Romaine). Each bird cage also has dishes available of the following: crushed oyster shell, charcoal, & bee polin . I also mix these into the birds eggfood: Trace Minerals, Spirulina, & Powdered Kelp. I give them sprouted seeds every few days. The suppliments I give them on a daily basis are Daily Essentials and Sweet Water (to keep the water clean). I also give Calciboost 2-5 times a week depending on if the birds are in their breeding cycle or molting. I give Feather-Up to all birds during their molt and any other suppliment when it's needed. If you would like to know where I buy my products and further descriptions on what they are for, follow the "Link" tab or click on the product name.
The temperature in my bird room stays above 72F. I keep a humidifier going 24/7 that keeps the humidity at a minimum of 55%. I also have provided Full Spectrum Lighting throughout the room. On a daily basis I play a rainforrest sound cd, bird sounds cd, a didgeridoo music cd, or just some R&B :-)
