Brand new Please come by and see our all dachshund puppies web page new as of April 2002. This new dachsie page goes back in time to when Wotan and Shakti were young puppies (the days before I had a computer...ancient in other words!) There are quite a few cute portraits
and action photos of them as dachshund puppies. Also it tells of how we got the names Wotan and Shakti and what they mean and also talks about the defect Wotan was born with (which hasn't held him back in his life).

Yes, it's 100% Wotan here! The world's greatest dachshund (or so we believe). Wotan von Dackeldorf is his AKC name and he was 11 years old on October 18, 2001. In 1999 he had lots of medical problems, but those are behind him now. This page shows off 10 nice photos of Wotan taken in past years. This black and white portrait was taken when he was about 3 years old.
Wotan kills a balloon
He's a real hunter, this dachshund, and he will hunt down and destroy the fiercest balloon in the nation (as you can see).
Puppy with a pumpkin
Wotan also does in miniature pumpkins around Halloween time.
The most beautiful sound in the world....
to this dachshund's ears is the sound of squealing rats! He was overjoyed the day I rented an action film that had a scene that took place in the sewers of New York as the soundtrack was filled with rats squealing.
I played that part over and over for him to enjoy. This photo and the next 2 show how happy he looked just to hear this sweet music.

Our longhaired doxie Shakti just sits in the background as Wotan listens to the welcome sound.

Here he is listening to the rats so intensely his little paw is raised.
Bubbles aren't safe
Wotan also loves to hunt down and destroy soap bubbles. Here I give him some to chase on the breeze and bite with all his might. After 5 minutes of this, for some reason he is usually making odd gestures with his mouth and tongue.
Vampire boy
And oh what teeth that dachsie boy has! You'd think he was Barnabas Collins or Dracula from this photograph.
A gentle side
But he is a killer with a heart of gold really. He loves his smurf and sometimes carries it gently around and grooms it.
Birthday celebration
Wotan joins me for my birthday cake....or maybe it was for his own birthday one October 18th. Wotan is feeling much better after his major surgery and recuperation. About the only lasting effect of his surgery seems to be his increase in interest with food since his neutering. Although he has gained a small amount of weight, he is doing fine and is very active.
