BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING 8 February 2000 The February BOD meeting commenced at 7:00 PM at the Tallis home and consisted of the following Officers, Directors and Standing Committee members and volunteers: Rick Edwards, Loretta Wallace, Stephanie Finney, Craig A. Tallis, John Missey, Diane and Carl Newman, Bob Southland, Wanda Edwards and Lee Tallis. Rick opened the meeting and asked the Secretary to read the minutes of the l4January BOD meeting. Minutes were read by Stephanie and unanimously approved as read. OLD BUSINESS Bob Southland presented information regarding the septic tank system. He strongly recommended that a faulty wooden septic tank cover and riser, be replaced as soon as possible The present cover presents a prominent danger. He submitted a written cost proposal to the Board who unanimously approved his proposal. Bob strongly recommended that the Village Septic records be scrutinized to find out which septic's have been repaired and which are in immediate need of going over. He will pick up all septic records from the Village files. Bob proposed a pricing agreement with Hemley's Septic Tank service for ongoing septic maintenance service. He ascertained that Hemley's offered the most service for the least cost. Motion to accept Hemley's bid was unanimously approved. Bob was authorized to proceed with a pricing agreement on an incremental basis (i.e., 34 tanks at a time as is deemed affordable). Loretta presented Bob Ehrman's response regarding bookkeeping discrepancies noted in audit of books. Bob stated that all discrepancies have been corrected and Bob's explanations were accepted by the BOD as presented. Loretta then presented her Treasurer's report which the board approved as read. BOD reiterated their approval of the elected officers receiving $30 per month for EACH MEETING attended. No other directors/committee members would be reimbursed. NEW BUSINESS Diane and Carl Newman were presented and welcomed as the standing Architectural Committee and will recruit additional committee members as they deem necessary. Diane will chair this committee. John Missey stated he will ask for bids from a landscaping company immediately.
The company will be asked to bid on lawn cutting/trimming, but will not
be asked to trim trees, bushes, etc. Other work such as fertilizing, etc.,
will be considered on an individual basis. John will present his findings
at the next scheduled meeting. Carl Newman suggested asking for volunteer
working parties for shrub trimming, etc. Carl and the BOD feel that homeowners
will volunteer when they are made aware of what the Village is saving of
their money.
It was proposed that the Village investigate the Neighborhood Watch program. Comments were made that many unknown persons/vehicles have been noted lately. BOD suggests asking for opinions of Village members in a future Village Voice edition. It has been noted that the trash dumpster has been used to get rid of toxic wastes, i.e., paint cans, solvents, etc. This is ABSOLUTELY AGAINST THE LAW and CANNOT BE TOLERATED. An article will be prepared for the next issue of Village Voice stating that if this particular problem continues, the BOD will seriously consider cancellation of the contract for the dumpster entirely because of the danger of lawsuits to the Village as well as injury to residents. Stephanie acquired a new lock for the RV/Trailer lot. It is a combination lock and those members on record of utilizing the lot should check with Stephanie for the combination. The BOD unanimously agreed, that no fee will be charged for homeowner usage of the parking area. The only stipulation to usage is that EACH user is to be totally responsible for his/her parking area and only Village members are authorized access on a first come first served basis. No non-operating vehicles may be stored, nor will mechanical overhaul/repairs be made in the lot.. The BOD received and considered a request from Frank Jaloma for reimbursement for electrical repair to his property. The BOD informed Frank that his request will be considered at a future meeting after all other Village concerns have been addressed, i.e., septic tanks, landscaping, etc. which remain Village and your BOD's immediate objective. The February BOD meeting adjured at 9:30 p.m.
