Behold, I set thee a Watchman on the Wall" (Isaiah 62:6)
Despite the warning received six months ago on September 11, 2001, America has again found herself wrestling against God, pressuring Israel to give away land that was given to the seed of Abraham as an eternal covenant. The consequences of this act may well be catastrophic for the United States.
On March 13, 2002, the United States succeeded in pushing a resolution through the U.N. endorsing the establishment of a Palestinian State and calling for Israel to give away land back to pre-1967 borders -- dividing Jerusalem in half. The United Nations Security Council passed the resolution calling for a Palestinian state alongside Israel. The US-drafted document "affirming a vision" of a Palestinian state was backed by 14 out of 15 members of the Security Council. The UN resolution called for "immediate cessation of all acts of violence, including terror, provocation, incitement and destruction" and urged Israel and the Palestinians to resume peace talks. Israel's UN Ambassador Yehuda Lancry said he welcomed a "balanced" Security Council resolution on the Middle East, which he called "a rare and remarkable" occurrence.
With this position statement, the United States has joined the other nations of the world, against Israel and in the beginning fulfillment of Zechariah chapter 12. Also contained in these statements is the "land for peace and security" theme.
"But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape."
(1 Thes 5:1-3)
We must remain mindful that the way Israel is treated will be the litmus test of God blessing or curse. Any nation that touches the Apple of God's eye is in danger of God's judgement (Zechariah 2:7-9).
Any nation that blesses Israel will be blessed of God, but Genesis 12:3 also contains a curse for any nation that curses Israel. Thankfully, America is still supporting Israel so the Genesis 12:3 blessing is still counter balancing the scales of justice weighted down with abortion, sexual sin, etc. But the U.S. is began to waver when on May 22, 2001, President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell publicly endorsed the Mitchell Plan, which calls for covenant land to be relinquished in exchange for peace?.risking the curse of God. And now we have a U.S. supported U. N. resolution that establishes a Palestinian State and calls for Israel to give away land back to pre-1967 borders -- dividing Jerusalem in half.
"God said to Moses, 'I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.'" (Exodus 6:3-4, KJV)
"He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: Saying, 'Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:'" (Psalm 105:7-11), KJV
According to the Bible, this is God's land entrusted to Israel and includes all lands from the border of Egypt to the Euphrates river. It is also a matter of fact, that Israel has caved in to 97 Palestinian demands for the sake of peace only to be embroiled in war of terrorism against its civilian population.
We must stand by Israel as a nation, as the church of Jesus Christ, and as individuals or risk the judgement of God. Sadly, according to Zechariah 12:3, all nations, including America, will eventually turn against Israel and invite the redemptive judgement of God.
Therefore, "take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. "For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
(Luke 21:34-36)
As we see the signs of His return drawing close, what manner of holy life should we be living? Remember that Jesus is returning for a Holy and Spotless Bride. But whether His return is today or 10 years from now is irrelevant since eternity is only a heart beat away for any of us. So choose this day whom you will serve, ask the Holy Spirit to search you to see if there be any iniquity in you, and then call upon Jesus your Deliverer. He is faithful for forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unfaithfulness. Don't delay. Time is short. You have no guarantee that you will even see tomorrow. And if you die without receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your eternal destiny is fixed.
So in these current events we can see movement towards the Day of the Lord and the return of Jesus Christ in Judgement and Glory. As we have discussed many times, the United States must fall from world dominance to allow the United States of Europe, the revived Roman Empire and ultimate seat of anti-christ power to rise. For those who have been readers of this site (sight), you know the signs that a nation is being judged and how America fulfills the pattern as God is pleading with America for repentance.

We warned about America's movement toward the Arab world and away from the support of Israel. In the October 31st article, http://www.prophecyandcurrentevents.com/thglory/up103101.htm, we discussed "What's Next for America." In the series of articles entitled "What in Heaven is Happening to America" http://prophecyandcurrentevents/thglory/america1.htm, we discussed America's fall from grace and the biblical signs of judgement. Clearly in the aftermath of September 11th , everyone has awakened to the possibility that God has withdrawn his hand of protection from America. In response to our grievous and continued national sins, such as abortion, the embracing of homosexuality by mainline churches, and national pride and self reliance apart from the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God has begun to plead for repentance through increased natural and national disasters.
For those of you who are not comfortable with categorizing the September 11th disasters as God's Judgement, then consider it a final warning to America. It has been clearly demonstrated by John McTernan's book ("God's Final Warning to America"- available at http://watch.org/catalog/) and others that God's warning judgements follow sin events.
America is not exempt from God's redemptive chastisement ("God is no respecter of persons" - Acts 10:34b) and the events this Monday are a harbinger of additional judgement if national repentance is not forthcoming and that includes the way we treat the Jews (Gen 12:3).
The wisest man in the world once noted:
"That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun." (Ecc 1:9)
In 1863 the United States was embroiled in a great civil war. On March 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued an historic Proclamation Appointing a National Day of Prayer & Fasting. As you read this proclamation, consider the state of the United States today and consider that "it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." (Hebrews 10:31)
Please note that President Lincoln clearly saw the hand of God in the affairs of men as we strayed from His righteousness and also indicates the source of that departure from the righteousness of God (Highlighted portion). Ask yourself if the reasons noted by Lincoln for God's action against America are not the same as today.
"Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the supreme authority and just government of the Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations has by a resolution requested the president to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation.
And whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God: to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon: and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord:
And insomuch as we know that by His divine law nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people?
We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown; but we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious land, which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us:
It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness. All this being done in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the divine teachings, that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering country to its former happy condition of unity and peace."
Consider God's warning to Nineveh:
On Friday, July 27, 2001, Cindy Jacobs gave the following warning that America was on a precipice and judgement was at the gate and there would either be a great revival in this nation or a great depression, 'says the Lord'.
"For the Lord would say, 'I have brought you here at a pivotal hinge of history, and I would say to you, My people in the United States do not realize how much the need mercy. For even this nation stands upon a precipice,' says the Lord, 'and there is a time that I will either give this nation wings like eagles or they will plummet. For there is judgment at the gate that you do not even fully realize. For there is only so long that I, the God of justice, can wink at injustice. And I would say, you must fill the cup of justice and empty the injustice.
For this is a season where there is a divine trade going on in the heavens - justice for injustice. Do not think that I will allow the economy of this nation to remain as it is if My people do not understand that there must be liberty for those whom there is no liberty. And I would say to you , you do not know how to cry out because My people do not know and feel the brunt of it until many times it is almost too late. But I have called you here tonight to begin to fill the cup of mercy and the cup of justice.' And the Lord says, 'Over the next 30 days there is a deciding moment... a moment of decision as to what I will do with this nation,' says the Lord. 'Do not take lightly what I have brought you here to do. Cry out not only for yourselves, but for you children and grandchildren. Cry out! For you have not seen in this generation a great depression,' says the Lord, 'you do not know what it is like to find work and not to be able to feed your children, but I say to you,' says the Lord, 'you are at a pivotal time in history where either there will be great revival in this nation or a great depression, 'says the Lord."
Has America sealed its fate by moving against Israel? Time will tell. Is America above the judgement of God? Let's let Jesus speak to America:
"There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. "Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." He also spoke this parable: "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. "Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?'
"But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 'And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.' " (Luke 13:1-9)
America, Bless God and repent.
Unless there is massive repentance within the church, I do not see how America will survive untouched. We will, of course, eventually have to fall from dominance so the revived Roman Empire and the seat of the Anti-Christ can rise. The question is one of timing and that depends on the level of repentance. Even Nineveh was eventually destroyed, but national repentance from the Head on down gave Nineveh another 100 years or so.
However, in the midst of chaos and destruction, the glorious church will be refined without spot or blemish and those that truly know there God, who have been refined, will do great exploits for the Lord (Daniel). We will see miracles at a level never seen before as God knows how to preserve his remnant in the midst of destruction.
Joel saw "multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of decision" BEFORE the coming of the terrible Day of the Lord. Revival is coming, but it will be in the midst of unrest and signs in the heavens and on the earth as God will once again shake all things so the desired of the nations shall come.
Is there Hope?
"If my people [not the unsaved], who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Notice that this passage says that it is God's people who must humble themselves and repent before God will relent. This is exactly what happened to Nineveh. Jonah was sent to Nineveh when it was just 40 days from judgment. Then a miracle happened. From the king on down, the entire country humbled themselves and repented. Although judgment had been pronounced and God had even given them a date for their destruction, God relented and Nineveh survived another 100 years before meriting final judgment. Will the church of America repent? And what if judgment does come? Are the sheep ready, physically and spiritually, to be God's instrument to bring hope and healing?
Certainly we should not despair or grow depressed. There is Hope in Jesus. Jesus has promised His children, those who have been reborn of the Spirit, that He would never leave them or forsake them. If we have accepted Jesus' free gift of salvation, then no matter what happens in the future, He will be with us. When the storms of life come against us, it will be only be possible for us to stand by His mighty power and presence in our life.
God knows how to deliver His people. Noah and his family were protected through Judgment by the Ark of their salvation. During their exodus from Egypt, God fed the children of Israel with manna in the wilderness and provided water out of solid rock. He even parted the Red Sea. Lot and His family were escorted out of the city by Angels before Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego walked through the fire unharmed, because God was with them. "I have never seen God's people forsaken, or their children begging for bread." (Psalm 37:25b)
Psalms 23 and 91 are beautiful promises of God to preserve and comfort his children. Read them, walk with the Lord, and trust Him to preserve and protect us. God has begun to shake America, but Jesus says: "Do not let your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me" (John 14:1).
For the Turtle Rock community, in the middle of the California firestorms of the nineties, these promises became a reality. A wall of fire 200 feet high was heading for their community. Destruction was all around. Many of God's children were in that community. Their home church, when notified of the impending disaster, went into corporate prayer for them. They prayed: "God, your judgments are just, but there are righteous there, like when you destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah." They prayed for God to stop the wind. The next day the papers reported:
"It was like a miracle, the fire came right up to the edge of the community and then, inexplicably, the winds shifted and the fire took a right-hand turn." After the fire, Turtle Creek looked like an island of safety in a sea of destruction. Yes, God answers the prayers of His children. And yes, God knows how to deliver His children.
"I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,' says the LORD Almighty." (Hag 2.7)
"Watch and pray, therefore, that you would be counted worthy to escape the judgment that is coming upon the earth and be able to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36).
