Helping Injured People

Since becoming a Knoxville Attorney in 1984, I only represented people, not businesses or corporations, in cases involving personal injuries. I won't represent corporations or employers. I won't waste a court or jury's time with meritless lawsuits involving defendants who are not "a substantial cause" of your injuries. There are many people with serious injuries caused mostly, if not entirely, by others. I want to devote my time to helping them. Please don't ask me to represent you if your case is not serious or if the fault of another is not substantially a cause of your injuries.

Whether hurt on the job or in another kind of accident, I will only take cases I believe are meritorious. As you can see by linking below, some of the most difficult, but satisfying, litigation I have prosecuted involved representing brain injured people, and children whose parents were killed. Those kinds of cases remind me of why I went to law school in the first place - to bring the full force of the law to help those who most need it.

Family Law

Most of my family law work is done to help people in divorce and custody litigation. Before considering a divorce, I ask my clients to sincerely consider trying to understand why the marriage does not work for him or her. I think many marriages are discarded like used newspapers when, instead, they could be saved with some work. This is especially important when children are involved. I hate to sound like Dr. Laura, but I believe a lot of people don't need divorces but, instead, they need counseling. Only if the marriage is dangerous or emotionally unhealthy would I recommend a divorce be sought before marital counseling is obtained.

While a lot of these cases settle, I prepare each for trial and am serious about and committed to showing the court what is best for you and/or your child or children.
