The God of All Comfort
The God of All Comfort

The apostle Paul went through many hardships in his life as an apostle and a gospel preacher. He said, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed " (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). He gives a more detailed listing of his sufferings in 2 Corthinthians 11:22-33. How could he go through all those things without giving up in despair? He explained, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He was faithful in looking to the God of all comfort for the strength needed to bear his hardships. He considered these things to be but a "... light affliction, which is but for a moment" compared to the glory of eternity (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). He found strength in looking beyond the temporal to eternity with the God of all comfort. Christians today go through many trials and tribulations in life. How can we bear up under these trials? The same way the apostle Paul did, by looking to the God of all comfort for strength."Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us" (Ephesians 3:20). It was the power of the God of all comfort that worked in Paul's life and it will work in yours too!
