May a thousand values bloom ... Radio Free Richmond listeners can
help each other thrive ...
"
... everyone can become who they want to be. We seek to strengthen the
weakest links in our society such that no-one can thrive on the pain and
weakness of others."
A minority of
people live as predators and parasites upon the sweat of your brow. The
main way this happens is to take advantage of :
1)Your ignorance:
(you
don't know any better, "buyer beware" is worthless since you are not even
Aware
in order to
BEware. Your life circumstance is ignorance,
either because you have not had the chance to learn or those chances were
denied you by other's desighns.
2)Your predicament:
The
"system" is just not set up for you and your values/needs.
You
know better, but circumstances are such that the cost of defending
yourself in one area opens you up for even worse loss or abuse in another
area. Human sharks particularly love this situation because you must "willingly"
become their victim. Loan Sharks, Rent-a-Centers etc fit into this department.
Your predator is providing a "service" made unavailable by anyone else
and you pay accordingly.
3)Your challenge-points:
Your
life circumstances create additional chances to innovate, what some people
take for granted are options not available to you. "Disabilities" fit in
this category also.
In
the cases of behavioral issues, you know better, you are not in a predicament
... other than human weakness. You find yourself unwilling to accept the
pain of depriving yourself something that is available to you. The loss
following the indulgence is less than the loss of NOT indulging. Addictions
fit into this category.
One
of the purposes of community radio is to be a resource for those minority
interest groups and minority people's whose culture, circumstances and/or
human frailties are not considered worth defending by mainstream culture
and therefore you are often the target of human sharks.
Our
plan: To create a series of informational PSAs ... actually the Listener
Information Service Series LISSs (as in LISSsten to the radio ...).
These
are the categories that have been addressed at this time.
If
you have a category that you would like to help develop, please email us.
If
you would like to know more about an LIS that you have heard on the air,
