My pensive look on a mountain-

Thanks for checking me out. My name's Tom, and I'm a 27 year-old polysci student at Kent State University. This, thank God, is my last year in school, and then I plan to relocate to Washington to pursue a career in the political arena. I think I've got it narrowed down to working as a lobbyist, a political writer, or a waiter (haha). I wouldn't be surprised if I end up as the latter, but at least I'll be out of the Midwest. And, after trying to live in D.C. on what waiters make, who knows ... the Midwest may start looking pretty good again after a while. Yeah, right.

If it seems as though I'm not too stoked about a career as a lobbyist-journalist-waiter, that's probably because it's true. My real ambition is to be a bestselling author, and I'm working on a political thriller even as we speak. Unlike the throng of other would-be
writers out there, I've gotten consistently glowing feedback from friends, professors, and peers and really believe deep down in my soul that I could deliver a fresh, dynamic piece of work to the publishing world. The biggest hurdle will undoubtedly be finding an agent to represent me, which seems to be three-fourths of the battle these days. But I will find one, and you will see my book on the N.Y. Times bestseller list in a few years .. I swear it. So keep your eyes peeled, okay? And if you happen to know an agent who'd be willing to give a hungry, talented, charismatic (and, did I mention, hyper-
On the harbor in Camden, Maine last summer
ambitious) writer a chance, please let me know! Also, if you'd like to check out some of my poems, I've posted them here.

Other stuff ...

I'm a Taurus, for all you psychic hotline people out there. Actually, though, it's a pretty accurate gauge of my personality. I'm very loyal to my friends, boyfriends, and family, don't get bent out of shape often, have a really sensitive side, and can even be a little stubborn on occassion.

Hobbies ... hmmm. Between school, work, writing, and working out (I'm training hard right now to gain 10-15 pounds of muscle by November), I don't really have much time for kickboxing classes or exploring my inner self ... but I do manage to work in some cool activities every once in a while. I love distance running and do it whenever I get the chance, and I'm into swimming and hiking as well, especially with friends. And while I can get into the nature thing, I can just as easily spend a weekend in the city checking out the Cleveland hotties, trying out new ethnic restaurants, and gettin' my groove on at the clubs all night long. The thing about me: I'm OPEN. O-P-E-N. For real. I could have fun in a bar, boat, house, theatre, five-star restaurant, burger joint ... to me, it's alllll about the people. And I'm lucky to have some amazing people in my life.

Travel is also a huge part of my life. In the last few years, I've been to Dartmouth (England), Zermatt (Switzerland), Paris, Cannes, Nice, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence, Rome, Munich, and Oostende (Belgium), as well as to Lake Tahoe, Maine, Boston, Provincetown, Chicago, D.C., and, most recently, Key Largo. In a few days, I'm leaving for a Labor Day weekend D.C. trip, and I'd really love to see N.Y.C. for the first time this fall. I'm also going to begin looking into a post-grad trip to South Africa - a long-standing dream of mine. My dad's been there and says it's one of the most beautiful places on earth, and it would be the most exotic place by far that I've ever been (though I've heard New York can also be pretty exotic sometimes). While I loved Europe and will return in the next few years, I'd like to focus on more "out there" kinds of trips for the next few years. I'm thinking a two-week trek through South America, a train ride on the Orient Express, definitely Australia, and maybe even a week in Russia, waiting in long lines for Chicken McNuggets and toilet paper ... who knows? But that's the plan for now.

I've also gotten into online trading lately and learning more about the market and investments in general. I've been investing in my own company (which is poised to take off like a rocket in a year or so) since 1998. That led me to try my luck at investing in other stocks, with a little counsel from dad, of course, and I've actually made some crazy cash over the last year. If you're interested in checking out the Wall Street game, I'd suggest Ameritrade as a great place to start. Ameritrade charges only $8 a trade (vs. E-trade at $19.95 and all others at $24.99+), and it's very user-friendly. You can also open an account with as little as $500; most of the other places (E-trade, Merrill Lynch, DLJ, Dreyfus, etc.) require $2,000 - and a few as much as $10,000. Kind of defeats the purpose for 20-somethings who don't have ten grand lying around and want to invest so that they eventually will. Fuck 'em - if they don't want your money, give it to a brokerage that does. Ameritrade's where it's at.

And if you wouldn't mind showing me a little love, let me know if you want join so I can refer you ... I'll get 3 free trades if you sign up through me. Just let me know if you're interested, okay? I'd be grateful.

Anyway, if you'd like to see some quick-reference info about me, it's all conveniently indexed for ya' on the next page. Then, if you happen to be smart, fine, and, above all, REAL, check out the Can't Buy Me Love section of my site and find out if I'm the kind of guy you've been looking for ... and vice-versa. Ahh, wouldn't it be great?
